Maria and I have been married for seven years. We have two beautiful children and a nice studio apartment. But after our second child, the spark had dimmed. My workload increased, and the sex was always vanilla—it started feeling like a chore. There were times when we didn’t have sex for weeks. The childbirths were also hard on Maria, as she felt like she had gotten out of shape. She thought that also played a part in our failing sex life. I told her she was beautiful, but I don’t think she ever truly believed me. Then, I had to go to Germany for work, and I was away for over a year. Maria felt insecure about herself and flirted with her trainer. While nothing “real” happened, she was overcome with guilt. She flew to Germany and came clean about it. Of course, I was upset, but I forgave her. However, I don’t think Maria ever forgave herself. Now that I’m back in America and my workload has lessened, we have finally decided to take a two-week-long vacation to figure out our differences and work through them. Our goal is to be adventurous and bold as we discover our kinks and how our marriage will look in the future. The details? We’ll figure those out as we go forward.
