This is shaping up to be a great game. The mechanics might feel a bit daunting at first (lots of submenus) but it’s ultimately just like any other trainer games. Increase affection to have them love you, increase reputation to have them fear and respect you.
This does beg the question why they need both an Affection and Reputation stat, when at this stage you don’t need to max both (I think you could max both if you gave NPCs their favorite food as gifts repeatedly while berating them to max out Reputation, but what is the point? You only need one or the other).
+1 for the devs using their own art instead of ripping off Illusion games or, even worse, AI.
The “problem” is currently there just doesn’t seem to be that much going on. Lots of bugs that prevent quests from being advanced, lots of WIP features, some possible sequence breaking if I’m not mistaken. What is there now is kinda generic, pulling you into the same scenes and storylines with just a few differences. From looking at the Patreon it seems this should branch out, with you training the Baronness
The problem is there’s just not that much hints or much of a tutorial to help you, so you never really know what you’ve maxed out and what you have yet to find out. You can discover potions but you won’t know what they do until you make them. There’s an ingredient I can’t find anywhere so I can’t progress a quest. It’s the little stuff like that.
Still, you should totally play at least once. Like I said it’s shaping up to be a great game BUT the number of updates there has been for what relatively few content there is right now is concerning. I’m reviewing version 0.12.2 and the dev has said the next updates for a while will only be for backers… why? This always makes me think of greed and is always concerning. I remember a similar game following the same route. I hope I’m wrong.
