I was pretty surprised to find that You-ki-chan takes heavy inspiration from some older games I’ve played. Most noticeable from the beginning, Alot of enemies, attacks, and some levels are based on those in Kirby: Super Star on the SNES.
Just off the top of my head; the fire-shooting have their attacks based on Burning Leo, mandrake-girls have Kirby’s microphone attack, You-ki throwing enemy projectiles uses the Bomber’s animations and the rock even explodes to make the reference clearer, the Kunoichi hide behind wallpaper and jump the same way Kirby’s ninja do, the harpies are based on Birdon, the harpy boss is a very obvious remake of the DynaBlade fight with some new mechanics added, there is a whole flying warship level mimicking Meta Knight’s- including the boss fight and escape from the ship, and so many more.
To a lesser extent, there is also a Metal Gear Solid stealth-level, and a whole Castlevania level– complete with a Richter-expy boss.
5 stars, definitely did not expect to be reliving my childhood favorites in wacky porn form.
…And to the idiots stuck with “authorization code” issues, there is clearly a separate ‘crack’ download beneath the game download links. Run the game using the cracked exe, not the original.
